The winter transfer window proves to be a time of intense rumour and potential big-money transfers. A number of notable stars are being linked with transfers away from their current teams. We examine a selection of the key names who are poised to be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward available, reports suggest a significant transfer is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial release clause active for a brief period in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to alternative options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous move to Anfield falling through. With his deal due to expire in the close season, January is the London club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January departure is considered difficult, especially given the manager's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has found starting opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has started only a handful of league matches. It is understood the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the right valuation, thought to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an interest.

Tottenham value the Welsh international at around £40m.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be set for a return to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still just 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer, he represents a possible opportunity. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced German shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barça following the manager Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January exit seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. However, securing a deal poses significant challenges. His current club are reluctant to sell him, and his reported huge salary make any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been linked as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

This energetic English midfielder drew considerable interest in the off-season but remained at Atlético. With few starts in Spain this season, he is eager to secure more minutes ahead of the World Cup. Harvey Elliott

Despite starring and winning player of the tournament at the U21 Euros in the summer, the young midfielder has found it tough for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the temporary transfer won't become permanent. Due to FIFA regulations regarding playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a return to Liverpool before next summer seems to be the only viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey forward has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. With his current deal nearing its end, a host of English clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a race to retain one of Europe's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to complete a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but could face stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
